Christmas Fete
Jubilee Community Arts, Knoxville TN
The White Hart standard opens the White Hart Puppet Players' show, in 1999 an Arthurian tale, in 2000 a Punch and Judy show, both presented by Daniel and Karan Dotson Ramirez. The puppet show is one of the highlights of the annual Christmas Fete at the Laurel Theatre, Jubilee Community Arts, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Fete grew out of dance performances by the Lark in the Morn English Country Dancers, the Tenpenny Rapper Sword Dancers, and the Sourwood Morris Dancers, and is still first and foremost a dance performance, though many other things wondrous and strange have grown up around it.
Bob Richmond and Kathleen Mavournin, the Lord and Lady of the Fete, recite verses and prose texts during the performance.
Dancers and other performers are richly caparisoned in styles of past times. A number of these dresses were designed and sometimes sewn by Jane Awl, and are seen here as a result of the Webmaster's first venture into fashion photography. (As far as this bemused male understands it, she junks old prom dresses for parts.)
Several other Web pages about the Fete are maintained by Toby Koosman and others, and these links will be added as soon as the Webmaster has them.
