I have over 8,700 persons in my Family Tree Maker database, including over 1,500 direct ancestors of mine. I have included only the first twenty generations on this page. My intent is to find persons with additional information with whom to share. The most recent major changes to the tree are listed at the end of this page. Introductory Remarks

Researching family history has been both exciting and frustrating over the last several years. Countless hours, many contacts, and extensive travel may be involved in finding one bit of information - in making one key link.

As I have moved through the generations of the various families, I have relied on the research from many other persons, several of whom are in the process of publishing books. One is indeed fortunate to discover and make contact with another person who has already accumulated many important facts. I have always reciprocated with what I have learned. Without these important contributors to my tree, the task would be very difficult, if not impossible.

Some of my original work has been taken from family records and papers written by parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. In addition to providing important facts, these papers add meat to the bones of statistics. There is nothing like reading a 50- or 150-year old paper, letter, or diary written by a relative to understand their situation, their likes and dislikes, their joys and sorrows of living. To them I am indeed eternally grateful. I only regret that I did not take advantage of their presence while I could have. Perhaps by working together we can reconstruct a significant portion of the past and prevent the loss from happening any longer.

In the following outline I have summarized the information about each of my known direct ancestors. If you know of any changes or additions or of someone with additional information, please send the information to or contact me at my e-mail address. Since my work has been primarily for my personal enjoyment and edification, I make no guarantees about the accuracy of the information, even though every effort has been made to be as careful as possible. Ancestors are added using the best information in my possession. A question mark in the first column indicates a possible relationship.

Jeff Pyle has made available on his website an important document recently given to him. It is Keene v Chalmer (1832) and consists of 25 pages of the judgement for the estate of Joyce Farraine, "The Lunatic," who died intestate. Without a will, her very large estate had to be divided and she appeared to have no children or close relatives. The research involved tracing back and proving PYLE connections back to the early 1600s and where the searches were conducted etc. I reviewed Jeff's transcription with the original he posted and edited his text -- corrected a few words, inserted some missing words and lines. It went fairly quickly, since he had already done the hard part in his original rendering from the flourished handwriting. My results are attached in an Adobe pdf.

One of the most perplexing problems I have addressed is the parentage of Charles Wortham Wilson. I show them in the following chart as John and Nancy Louiza Wortham Wilson, but this is only an educated guess. I have included a summary of the data supporting this Wilson hypothesis at the end of this page. If you can help shed light, I sure would appreciate hearing from you at my e-mail address.
